Efter att artisten Taylor Swift gått ut med ett kritiskt öppet brev till Apple Music har Apple ändrat sig: tjänsten kommer att betala ersättningar även för den tre månaders gratisversion som Apple Music erbjuder när den startar i nästa vecka.
Det var på tumblr som Taylor Swift skrev sitt kritiska inlägg till Apple Music. Bland annat skrev artisten:
”This is not about me, Thankfully I am on my fifth album and can support myself, my band, crew, and entire management team by playing live shows. This is about the new artist or band that has just released their first single and will not be paid for its success. Three months is a long time to go unpaid, and it is unfair to ask anyone to work for nothing.”
Kritiken följde efter att bland annat flera indiebolagsorganisationer kritiserat Apple Music. Sent på söndagskvällen svarade Apples Eddy Cue vina twitter att man kommer att lyssna på kritiken.
Cue skrev: ”#AppleMusic will pay artist for streaming, even during customer’s free trial period” respektive ”We hear you @taylorswift13 and indie artists. Love, Apple”
Enligt Buzzfeed har dock Swift ännu inte meddelat om hennes album 1989 kommer att finnas på Apple Music när tjänsten rullas ut 30/6.
