Det kommer nog inte som någon skräll när IFPI utser årets mest framgångsrika akt 2021. Det går för andra året i följd till BTS.
Priset som den Sydkoreanska akten får kallas Global Recording Artist Of The Year Award och baseras på en akts globala resultat i såväl ”digital” som fysisk försäljning, hela insatsen”.
BTS toppade även 2020 och de blir först med att vinna två år i följd.
IFPI:s Frances Moore säger i ett pressmeddelande: “BTS’s phenomenal success over the last year is a testament to their creativity, hard work and ongoing commitment to continuing to find ways to bring their music to the world. By performing in three different languages, they demonstrate their extraordinarily unique global appeal and their dynamic and passionate fanbase has helped to make them the first artists in history to top the Global Artist Chart in two consecutive years. We would like to wish RM, Jin, SUGA, J-Hope, Jimin, V and Jung Kook and all who work on their team huge congratulations on winning the Global Recording Artist of the Year Award and on another year of brilliant success”.
BTS har en del Sverigekopplingar på låtskrivarsidan/produktionen genom åren. Det gäller även flera andra på topp 10. Inte minst The Weeknd (se separat artikel om årets låt), men även t ex tvåan Taylor Swift och trean Adele. Mindre bekant blågul koppling är kanske att likaledes sydkoreanska Seventeen, på plats 9, har det i form av Seoul-baserade producenten Simon Petrén, här hemma kanske mest känd som ljudmakare för Dirty Loops och även Ace of Base-sångerskan Jenny Berggren.
